Property surveys


It is extremely exciting when you find the right place yet it can be a little daunting too. Normally, in the UK, it is at this point that a survey would be carried out allowing you to know the true condition of the property.

In France house surveys are not common practise and the French buy the property ‘as seen’ meaning you can’t make an offer or buy ‘subject to a survey’. If you feel that you would like to have a survey undertaken to give you peace of mind, we can recommend a UK Chartered Surveyor who now lives and works in France.

If you decide you would prefer to have a survey undertaken just let us know and we will help you to make the necessary arrangements. The fee for the survey will depend on the type of report you require and you will need to contact the surveyor direct to discuss their services and fees.

They will generally offer the following services;
• Pre purchase inspection report
• Accompanied viewing and advice
• Costing of proposed alternations and renovations
• Post purchase advice on repairs/renovations

Alternately if you would prefer, we may be able to arrange for a local builder to come and look over the property with you and discuss your plans for which they will charge a small fee.
